History of the State Urban Planning and Architecture Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The State Urban Planning and Architecture Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in accordance with the Decree dated February 28, 2006, signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev for the purpose of improving the public administration structure, and in accordance with the legislation No. 16-III of the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated March 23, 2006 The State Construction and Architecture Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was abolished by Decree No. FR and established on its basis. The functions of the abolished State Construction and Architecture Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in the field of construction were transferred to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

By the Decree No. 93-III FR of the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated November 20, 2007, the Regulations on the State Urban Planning and Architecture Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic were approved, the structure of the committee was approved and the number of employees of the apparatus was determined. According to the statute of the State Urban Planning and Architecture Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the Committee is a central executive authority that implements state policy and regulation in the areas of urban planning, territorial planning, architecture and related design in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

By the Decree No. 196-VI FR of the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated August 23, 2023, the new charter of the State Urban Planning and Architecture Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was approved, the structure of the Committee was changed, and it was given the status of a public legal entity on the basis of the Project-Estimating Group subordinated to the Committee. The Project Planning Center was established and the Center's charter was approved. The Project Planning Center, which provides services in the fields of urban planning, territorial planning and architecture, participates in the implementation of state policy, is included in the subordinate institutions that are not included in the structure of the Committee.

The State Urban Planning and Architecture Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic participates in the formation of a unified state policy in the relevant field in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The committee ensures the preservation of urban planning and national architectural traditions (heritage), the effective use of the territories of cities and settlements historically formed around them, taking into account the natural and local characteristics of the cities, together with the relevant executive power and local self-government bodies. Also, the work of the State Urban Planning and Architecture Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic includes conducting urban planning cadastre in the manner determined by the legislation of the autonomous republic, ensuring the improvement of the level of architectural planning solutions of buildings, facilities and complexes, monitoring their processing in accordance with urban planning and construction norms, and activities in other directions determined by the legislation. .
